Security is at a premium this weekend in Naples, with a series of targeted checks in the city's main nightlife areas and the areas surrounding the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. The State Police and other law enforcement agencies are targeting the evening and nighttime areas between Mergellina, Piazza Sannazzaro, Largo Sermoneta, and Fuorigrotta.
Officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue, supported by local police personnel, combed the area around the Mergellina chalets and the seafront.
During the checks, 255 people were identified, 35 of whom had previous police records. Traffic was also checked: 60 vehicles were checked and two traffic violations were reported.
At the same time, Nibbio motorcyclists from the General Prevention Office conducted an extraordinary patrol of the area, with a specific focus on combating the phenomenon of illegal parking attendants, now entrenched in nightlife areas and near major city hubs.
In this context, officers identified 210 people, 31 of whom had criminal records, and checked 65 vehicles: two were seized. Twelve fines were issued for traffic violations, including the suspension of one driver's license.
Attention then shifted to Fuorigrotta and the areas surrounding the Maradona Stadium, where thousands of people flock to sporting events, businesses, and clubs on weekends. Here, officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue worked alongside members of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza, with the support of the Campania Crime Prevention Unit, in an extraordinary, high-visibility operation.
The operation in the Fuorigrotta area resulted in 220 identified individuals, 30 of whom had criminal records, and 115 vehicles being checked. During the checks, one vehicle was seized and two others were administratively seized. Twelve traffic violations were also reported, confirming a strategy geared towards comprehensive territorial control and the prevention of crime.
The overall weekend activities convey the image of a city under surveillance, with a heightened police presence at key nightlife hotspots and urban transportation hubs. The goal, underscored by the coordinated operations, remains to combine vibrant nightlife with respect for the rules and the safety of residents and visitors.
