The two young men accused of the crime remain in prisonmurder Pasquale Nappo, the 18-year-old shot dead on the night of November 2nd in Piazza Pace, Boscoreale. The preliminary investigations judge confirmed the arrest warrants issued by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate for Giuseppe Esposito, 18, with no criminal record, and Antonio Abbruzzese, 23, both represented by the lawyer Mauro Porcelli.
The two suspects have been ordered held in pre-trial detention: they will face charges of premeditated murder, aggravated by mafia methods. According to investigators, the two are responsible for the ambush that rocked the center of Boscoreale in the dead of night, when three gunshots struck Nappo while he was in the square with a group of friends.
The 18-year-old, fatally shot, died shortly thereafter. Investigations by the Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) and the Carabinieri led to the identification of the alleged killers in less than 24 hours, thanks to the analysis of surveillance footage and testimonies collected at the scene.
In the past few hours, Esposito has been interviewed by the judge during the validation hearing, while Abbruzzese—who is suffering from health problems—attended the hearing this afternoon. Both have denied the charges, but the evidence gathered by investigators was deemed sufficient to order their detention.
Investigators continue to work to reconstruct the motive for the crime and verify any possible links to local criminal circles, a hypothesis that has prompted the prosecutor's office to also raise the issue of mafia-related aggravating circumstances.

It's truly sad that these things happen in our society. It's unacceptable that young people commit such acts of violence. We hope that justice will take its course and those responsible will be adequately punished.
