Pozzuoli – A morning of widespread checks in the port area of Pozzuoli, where an extraordinary joint operation took place yesterday to combat widespread lawlessness.
The officers of the local police station, supported by personnel from the Port Authority, of the Carabinieri and the Municipal Police, combed the dock and the docks, with a clear objective: to restore legality, from the unregulated sale of fish products to unruly parking.
Illegal fish and fines for fishing vessels
The operation's results are significant. Attention has focused primarily on illegal trade, a phenomenon that threatens both the legal economy and consumer health. One vendor was fined, and approximately 40 kg of fish, untraceable and ready to be sold illegally, were seized.
During the checks, 16 people were identified and eight fishing vessels were inspected; two of these vessels were fined for irregularities found in their crew composition.
Flurry of fines for illegal parking
The lack of discipline also affected motorists. The operation was intended to send a strong message against illegal parking, which is congesting the port area. As many as 20 vehicles were fined for parking illegally near the fishermen's dock.
In addition, four other traffic violations were reported during the checks, including driving without insurance and a periodic inspection. This action reaffirms the police's commitment to ensuring safety and compliance in a strategic area of the city.
