Carabinieri dismantled a drug dealing operation in Largo Rotonda. Hashish and cash were seized.
San Nicola la Strada – The Carabinieri crackdown on drug trafficking in the heart of the city center. On the evening of November 13, officers from the local station arrested three drug dealers red-handedly dealing drugs inside the municipal park on Largo Rotonda. A 48-year-old and a 49-year-old Senegalese man were arrested, along with a 39-year-old Malian.
The operation was launched following a targeted surveillance and shadowing operation. Investigators caught the three men red-handed immediately after they sold approximately 1,2 grams of hashish to two buyers in two separate drug dealing incidents. The customers were identified and reported to the Prefecture as drug users.
The officers' personal searches led to the seizure of an additional 4,2 grams of hashish and €30 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity. The drugs and cash were seized as evidence of the crime.
The three drug dealers, after being held in the police station's holding cells, appeared before a judge this morning for a fast-track trial. This operation confirms the police's ongoing commitment to combating drug dealing in public areas frequented by the public.
