Santa Maria Capua Vetere – Zero tolerance for illegality, exploitation, and public health risks. This is the outcome of the operation conducted by the Carabinieri of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Company, who combed the area with crucial support from specialized units of the Labor Inspectorate (NIL) and the Anti-Adulteration and Health Unit (NAS) in Caserta.
Several businesses have been targeted, resulting in significant losses: seizures, complaints, suspensions, and administrative fines totaling over €12.000.
The restaurant raid: 100 kg of food seized
The first inspection involved a local restaurant. Upon the arrival of the NAS officers, the situation immediately appeared critical: the premises, used as a pizzeria, had serious health and hygiene deficiencies and structural issues, incompatible with the preparation of food for the public.
Furthermore, the managers had set up a completely illegal food warehouse. The inspection led to the immediate administrative seizure of approximately 100 kilograms of food products (meat, cheese, and other products), all of which lacked the necessary traceability documentation, posing a potential health risk to customers. The owner was fined €3.500.
Greengrocer suspended for illegal and unlicensed employment
The troubles aren't over. The inspections have moved to a fruit-selling business, where the Labor Inspectorate intervened.
Here, the Carabinieri discovered a clear case of exploitation and illegality: the owner was reported at large (referred to the police) for employing a foreign worker completely "illegally" and without a residence permit. Furthermore, the owner had failed to submit his employees to mandatory medical examinations, violating fundamental workplace safety regulations.
Given the seriousness of the violations, the business was immediately suspended, aggravated by administrative fines totaling €9.000.
Alongside commercial checks, the military also focused on juvenile justice. During their service, they executed a warrant for the replacement of a precautionary measure against a 17-year-old from Naples.
The young man, who was being held in a community, repeatedly violated the obligations imposed by the previous measure. Following his failure to comply, the judge increased the sentence, ordering his pre-trial detention at the Nisida Juvenile Correctional Institution, where he was transferred.
The extraordinary territorial control operation led to the identification of a total of 63 people and the inspection of 41 vehicles, demonstrating the widespread presence established by the Carabinieri to ensure legality and safety for citizens.

The article talks about operations against illegal activities, but I noticed that many things aren't right. Restaurants must follow the rules; it's important for everyone's health, not just for profit.
