Naples - An ordinary afternoon turns into a high-tension chase through the buildings of Scampia, with an incredible incident. The protagonists, or perhaps victims, are two boys just 14 years old, an age when one usually thinks of studying and playing, not running from the law.
It all began when a Carabinieri patrol from the Mobile Radio Unit, patrolling Via Ciccotti, spotted a 125cc scooter. One detail, however, didn't go unnoticed: the complete absence of a license plate. On board were two very young men who, combined, were under thirty.
The crew's response was immediate and misguided. Ignoring the order to stop, the driver—a fourteen-year-old wearing a helmet—pulled the clutch and sped away. Next to him, clinging to his shoulders, a boy his age was riding with his face uncovered, in a dangerously vulnerable position.
The reckless escape and the leap into the void
Thus begins a mad dash through the neighborhood streets, a succession of sharp turns and blistering acceleration, with the scooter zigzagging, putting his safety and that of others at risk.
And it's at this point that the unthinkable happens. During the ride, in a desperate attempt to escape the officers, the passenger, a 14-year-old without a helmet, takes an extreme step: he jumps from the moving vehicle, rolling onto the asphalt. A moment of fear, as the patrol stops the pursuit to help him. Fortunately, the boy gets up without serious injuries, only with a few probable abrasions and a huge fright.
A few moments later, the young "centaur", realizing what had happened or perhaps forced by the situation, also stops after a hundred meters.
The Carabinieri then arrested both minors. Once the smoking tires were gone, they were charged with resisting arrest and seized their scooter, which now becomes evidence of the crime.
With the handcuffs replaced by a formal but stern warning, the two fourteen-year-olds were finally released to their parents. They return home, armed with a criminal complaint already on the threshold of adulthood and a lesson in risk, hopefully, learned before it's too late.

The article talks about two boys running away from the police, and it seems incredible that at that age they would do such things. It's worrying to see young people in such dangerous situations, but society must reflect on how to prevent similar incidents.
