Naples – The echoes of the Camorra war are once again being felt at Case Nuove. An 18-year-old man, Fabio Rinaldi, was shot during the night between Friday and Saturday on Via Michelangelo Ciccone in the Mercato neighborhood, near the central train station. The young man, with no criminal record, was struck in the calves and is now in the hospital, where his condition is not considered serious.
The victim is related to a prominent figure in the Rinaldi family, historically rooted in the 44th district of Rione Villa in San Giovanni a Teduccio. This connection, according to investigators, places the incident within the ongoing conflict between the Rinaldi clan and the Mazzarellas, with the support of their allies, the Contini-Mariglianos, on one side and the Caldarellis, on the other.
Before the attack, a "stesa"—an intimidating barrage—had been recorded near a residence linked to the victim, on Via Gabella Vecchia. This signal had already drawn the attention of law enforcement to the area two weeks earlier.
On the night of October 23rd, the Carabinieri responded to a barrage of shots fired at a window: six holes in the shutter and two more in the wall. A 28-year-old tourist was also found at the scene, reporting being attacked by three people.
In the latest incident, however, the attack was swift and targeted. The young man was standing outside a club frequented by local youths when a man, his face covered, approached and fired shots at his legs, before fleeing into the darkness. The bullets entered and exited without damaging any vital arteries.
Investigators are working to reconstruct the full dynamics: the shooting may have been sparked by a clash within the local area, a dispute that has reignited tensions and violence for months between criminal groups seeking supremacy in the Market, the historic center, and the eastern part of the city.
The investigation by the Carabinieri of the Stella Company and the Mobile Radio Unit continues to identify the gunman and clarify the motive for the latest bloodbath in a neighborhood that, once again, finds itself hostage to feuds.

Clan feuds are a serious problem, but we must also consider the fact that many young people are innocent victims of all this. Greater security and oversight by the relevant authorities is needed.
The episode of violence in Naples is deeply concerning, especially for an 18-year-old. Tensions between the clans are causing harm to the community, and the situation doesn't look like it'll improve anytime soon.
