A night of terror in Pomigliano d'Arco: thieves attempt to steal a car and threaten the owner with death.

Pomigliano d'Arco – A nightmarish evening transformed the center of Pomigliano d'Arco into the scene of an episode of violence and intimidation. On Wednesday, November 6, around 21:20 PM, two criminals attempted to steal a car in the city center, threatening the victim with blood-curdling words: "Don't scream, or we'll break your head!" – meaning "Don't scream or we'll break your head."

The complaint, which was sent directly to MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli of the Green-Left Alliance, shines a spotlight on an area increasingly vulnerable to crime, where safety seems a mirage.

It all started outside "Nonno Felice Bakery & Pizza," a busy establishment in the heart of the city. The victim, a local businessman, had gone out to retrieve an item from his Fiat 500X when he caught the two thieves at work.

One had his face covered, the other not, and they were forcing open the vehicle door. "As soon as they saw me, they sped away," the man said in his complaint, supported by a surveillance video that captures his screams and threats in Neapolitan dialect, confirming the criminals' origins in the area.

Not content with being discovered, the two reacted arrogantly. As the victim screamed for explanations, the uncovered thief issued an ultimatum, before fleeing with a third accomplice in a late-model black Citroen DS4, with the engine already running and ready to disappear. The victim's car suffered visible body damage near the window pillar, a tangible reminder of the attack.

The prank unfolded in the minutes that followed. Five minutes after the incident, the man called the local Carabinieri station to report the incident, but the response was disarming: "Show up tomorrow morning, there are no patrols available for an immediate inspection."

This refusal amplified the sense of abandonment, transforming an emergency into a nighttime bureaucracy. This detail isn't merely anecdotal: it highlights a chronic lack of resources in the area, especially in the evening hours, when crime operates with greater impunity.

Representative Borrelli, along with local Europa Verde spokesperson Carmine D'Onofrio, expressed strong condemnation and hailed the case as a symbol of a systemic problem. "We are witnessing a shocking criminal escalation," Borrelli stated in an exclusive interview.

"The criminals not only act undisturbed, but they have the arrogance to threaten their victims to their faces, terrorizing them for a simple theft. A citizen who fights back is not only robbed, but humiliated and put in danger of dying. And the response from law enforcement? 'No patrols available.' It's unacceptable."

Borrelli doesn't stop with criticism: he launches an urgent appeal to the government. "The promises of hiring and strengthening law enforcement have remained empty words. The reality is tragic: when the state is absent, criminals roam, spreading terror on our streets. We demand immediate and targeted intervention: more police officers and Carabinieri in the Naples area, to restore safety to those who live and work here. We cannot allow incidents like this to become the norm."

The Pomigliano incident is not an isolated one. In recent months, car thefts and acts of intimidation have increased by 20% in the province of Naples, according to preliminary data from law enforcement. The victim filed a formal complaint the next morning, but the video and eyewitness accounts could speed up the investigation.

This news is truly disturbing. I don't understand how thieves can act this way without fear. Greater security is important, especially at night. We hope the authorities take serious measures.
