Naples – Two men, aged 38 and 47, with specific criminal records, were arrested in Naples by officers from the Anti-Robbery Section of the Milan Flying Squad, in collaboration with their colleagues from the Naples Flying Squad. The operation was launched following an investigation coordinated by the Milan Prosecutor's Office, which led to the issuance of an injunction signed by the investigating judge at the request of Milan magistrates.

The two are accused of carrying out two robberies involving motorists, using a tried-and-true technique known as the "mirror technique." The incidents occurred on February 5 and 12, 2025, both on Viale Fulvio Testi in Milan. In both cases, the loot was a luxury watch worth approximately €20.000 and a vintage watch.

According to investigators' reconstruction, the two criminals rode two scooters, searching for potential victims. Once they identified their prey, they began a targeted tailing. When traffic forced the victim to slow down, the driver of the first motorcycle deliberately hit the car's left rearview mirror, prompting the driver to roll down the window to adjust it. At that precise moment, the accomplice dismounted the scooter and quickly snatched the victim's watch.

The investigations allowed them to trace the motorcycles used in the robberies thanks to analysis of video surveillance systems. Subsequently, through observation and tailing, officers identified the perpetrators, already known to law enforcement for similar incidents. They will now face charges of aggravated robbery and illegal possession of a weapon.

It's incredible how these two people managed to commit so many robberies in a short time without being stopped first, but even if they have specific criminal records, it's unclear why they chose this seemingly risky rear-view mirror technique.
