Afragola - His heart died last night, in a bed at the "Clinica Villa dei Fiori" in Acerra: Marco Iazzetta, sixty-two years old, originally from Afragola, a life as a construction worker cut short not by a sudden blow, but by the long and fatal echo of a fall.

To understand this death, we need to rewind almost two months, to September 10th.

The tragedy originated at a construction site in Scampia.

We're on Via Antonio Labriola, Lot H, in one of those under-construction buildings that define the suburbs. Iazzetta is at work. He's on the fourth floor. Then, suddenly, the void. A flight down one floor, not a plunge into total emptiness, but a violent impact on the attic below, on the third floor.

It's the beginning of an ordeal. The rescue, the rush to the hospital, hope hanging by a thread. But the internal injuries, the fractures, the trauma from that fall prove relentless. Day after day, Marco Iazzetta's condition, instead of improving, worsens. A slow agony that lasts for weeks.

Until last night. When his body, exhausted from the fight, gave up.

Now, what seemed like a tragic workplace accident has become a case to be examined under the microscope. Iazzetta's death has activated the judicial system. His body has been transferred, made available to the authorities: it is now at the Second Polyclinic Hospital in Naples. An autopsy will determine the precise nature of his injuries: what internal damage, what complication arising from that fall on September 10th, caused his death last night.

On the desk of the Carabinieri at the Marianella station in Naples, there's an open file. Their task is to reconstruct the dynamics of that construction site in Scampia. Verify the safety measures, the scaffolding, the protocols. Determine whether Marco Iazzetta's death was merely a tragic accident or whether specific responsibilities lie behind that plane's fall.

Reading this story makes me think about how dangerous it is to work on construction sites; safety measures need to be stricter. Marco Iazzetta's death is a tragic example of what can happen if you're not careful.
