Afragola – A desperate cry for help, whispered through an outside contact, shattered a nightmare of segregation and alleged abuse that had been unfolding for months within the home.
A minor from Afragola, held captive, drugged, and forced to live in an unsuitable environment, was freed yesterday morning thanks to the prompt intervention of the local police, activated by her teacher's immediate report.
The key: a telephone and the promptness of a teacher
The story, which highlights the unprecedented severity of abuse and neglect, reached a turning point when the girl, who had been absent from class for months, managed to contact her teacher. After the teacher's repeated attempts to establish contact—perhaps her only remaining link to the outside world—the minor spoke over the phone about abuse she had suffered at home and her forced confinement.
Distraught, and with the tragic warning of other family stories in her eyes, the teacher didn't hesitate. She rushed to the Afragola Local Police Headquarters, led by Commander Antonio Piricelli, who, without wasting a moment, activated the procedures required by the "Red Code," the law that guarantees maximum speed in responding to cases of domestic violence.
The officers, supported by social workers and the head of the Anti-Violence Center, immediately headed to the home.

Access was only possible with the arrival of her father, a craftsman. Inside, the scene confirmed their fears: the little girl appeared dazed, dizzy, with stiff movements, likely the result of a large amount of medication she had recently administered. Her astonishment at the immediate intervention gave way to a burst of joy and a hug for the fire chief.
The custody and the investigations
Having determined that the home was completely unsuitable for the well-being of minors, social workers immediately ordered the girl and her younger brother to be placed in a foster home.
The father, who according to investigators maintained an impassive attitude, has been reported at large to the Prosecutor's Office of North Naples. The case, considered extremely serious, is under investigation, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office itself. Forensic medical examinations will be arranged in the coming hours on the minors, who will be heard in a protected hearing with the assistance of specialized psychologists.
Adding to the complexity of the family situation is the fact that the two minors lived solely with their father, as their mother, also described as very fragile, had long since returned to live with her parents due to health problems, unable to provide care and attention for her children.
The Prosecutor's Office is now focused on a detailed investigation into the abuse suffered by the minor, attempting to shed light on the details of this horrific story, which has exposed the fragility and horror that sometimes lurk behind closed doors.

It's incredible that this could happen in a home. The girl was held captive, and no one noticed. I hope the investigation leads to justice for her and her brother, who deserve a better future.
