It was a terrifying afternoon in Mugnano, where a typical Camorra-style ambush took place around 15:40 PM. At number 32 of Via Luca Giordano, Giuseppe Cipressa, 64, known as "Zi Peppe" or "Peppaccio," was shot at least twice while driving his car. He is now hospitalized in critical condition.
According to an initial reconstruction, still being examined by investigators, the hitmen entered the scene in a vehicle, pulling alongside the victim's car. They fired shots in a matter of moments, then sped away, leaving Cipressa seriously injured inside the vehicle. One of the bullets struck him in the delicate area under his armpit.
The alarm was raised immediately.

Giuseppe Cipressa, born in Naples on August 14, 1961, is already a familiar face to law enforcement. He was identified as the regent of the Amato-Pagano clan in the immediate aftermath of the arrest of Aunt Rosaria Pagano, and later as a trusted man of Marco Liguori, who is considered the current number one in Mugnano and Melito..
Cipressa was free despite a nine-year prison sentence because the Supreme Court of Cassation had overturned the conviction, directing the Court of Appeal of Naples to "redetermine" the excessively severe sentence.
The Carabinieri are combing through footage from surveillance cameras in the area to try to identify the vehicle used by the killers and reconstruct their escape route.
