Arzano - For several years, Arzano has been working to improve animal welfare, rescuing all species from the streets and shelters. When Colonel Biagio Chiariello, the local police commander, took office, the "shelter" issue was transferred from the Environmental Department of the Authority to the Local Police.
There were approximately 230 dogs present at the shelter and thanks to a constant census and monitoring by X-raying the kennel, with the implementation of the rules of transparency in captures, placement in kennels, microchipping, the results have led to having, to date, approximately 96 dogs compared to the previous 230.
The credit goes to the determination of the local police commander, Dr. Chiariello, who, in addition to being an animal rights activist and monitoring the entry and exit of the furry friends from the kennel with his men, brought a substantial file to the Public Prosecutor's Office highlighting what was happening on the subject.
Since then, a "priority" called "adoption" has been implemented, such as the one carried out with three dogs found on the street, and entrusted to families in Arzano, thanks to the work of the officers, following their discovery.
The savings
To date, the savings amount to a total of €293 per year, considering that according to regional rates, a dog costs a total of €6 per day. All this benefits municipal housing and the pockets of Arzano taxpayers. The message they are sending from the Command is "Adopt, adopt, adopt!".
