Avellino - A desperate and, perhaps, providential cry. It's the cry of a three-year-old boy that pierced the silence of the A16 highway, becoming the inadvertent alarm signal that allowed the Highway Patrol to foil a dramatic attempted femicide.
The incident occurred along the A16 motorway (Naples-Canosa), in the section under the jurisdiction of the Subsection of Police Police West Avellino. Officers Giuseppe and Fabio were patrolling the stretch when their attention was drawn to a van stopped in the emergency lane. As they approached, they noticed the child, visibly shaken and in tears.
The alarm and the discovery in the ravine
Moments later, the scene changed dramatically. The police spotted, just a few meters away from the vehicle, in a ravine at the edge of the road, a man in a state of intense confusion, shouting blood-curdling phrases: "Help me, I killed her!"
The rush down the ravine revealed a horrifying scene: a woman lay unconscious on the ground. She had clear signs of strangulation and several wounds on her body.
