Avellino – A story of loneliness, vulnerability, and deliberate exploitation. At the center of it all is her, a 58-year-old woman from the Neapolitan hinterland, homeless and already burdened by a heavy criminal record.
And there he is, an elderly man living in the middle Calore valley, suffering from "full-blown senile dementia", for whom the woman was the carer.
A "care" relationship that, according to investigations by the Carabinieri of the Mirabella Eclano station, revealed a systematic plan to prey on the defenseless man. The prank only emerged with the elderly man's death, when his family, upon opening the will, discovered with dismay that the apartment where the man lived and the woman worked had ended up in the hands of the housekeeper.
But the house wasn't the only target. Over the months, according to the prosecution, the 58-year-old also stole cash and valuables from the home, taking advantage of her client's mental health, which had become incapacitated.

The investigation, which began precisely on the basis of the family's report, left no room for doubt: the military confirmed the elderly man's precarious cognitive condition, making it clear that he could not have donated his assets in full lucidity.
The caregiver, already arrested a few weeks ago to serve a final sentence for a theft committed in 2013—also to the detriment of an elderly couple for whom she worked—now faces a new and more serious legal challenge. She will face charges of defrauding an incompetent person, a crime punishable by influencing someone incapable of self-determination in order to gain an advantage.
His future will be decided in court, while the Carabinieri continue to sift through his past in an attempt to trace at least some of the stolen goods, restoring to the elderly man's memory a bit of the dignity that had been stolen from him in the final, fragile period of his life.

This story is very sad and makes you think about how some people take advantage of others. The woman was supposed to care for the elderly man, but instead she robbed him. This is truly unacceptable behavior and should never happen.
