A gang specializing in car thefts was dismantled this morning by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Avellino, following a months-long investigation coordinated by the Irpinia Prosecutor's Office. Five precautionary measures were carried out—four in prison and one under house arrest—against men between the ages of 20 and 44, deemed seriously suspected of criminal conspiracy aimed at a series of thefts between March and June 2025.
The order was issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Avellino Court, at the request of the Prosecutor's Office, which directed the investigation by the Carabinieri of the Solofra Company.

The provinces of Avellino and Salerno had become the gang's hunting ground, operating with speed and precision, stealing dozens of cars in the dead of night. The indictment alleges twenty-three thefts, fifteen of which were fortunately successful: the vehicles were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
The investigation revealed a structured organization, capable of operating under its own power, performing preventive reconnaissance, and maintaining a clear division of roles. Investigators describe a group that operated like a true criminal enterprise, until today's intervention disrupted its operations.

The Carabinieri operation appears to have been very well-organized and effective. It's important that the authorities continue to monitor these situations to prevent further car thefts. I hope the perpetrators receive appropriate punishment.
