Fourth – They're just fifteen, the age of school and their first outings with friends. But their evenings, instead of spending time in a pizzeria or a square, are spent speeding around on a scooter with a gun.
This is the disturbing picture that emerges from the Carabinieri operation in Quarto, an episode that goes beyond the news and stands out as yet another dramatic confirmation of a social alarm: the disarming ease with which very young people, in Naples and its province, acquire weapons and use them with criminal bravado.
The night of madness begins around 21:30 PM on Via Limata. Two gunshots fired in the darkness shatter the evening tranquility. A few minutes later, more shots rang out. A man, who witnessed the scene, called 112 in terror. He was convinced he was the target, that he had been targeted by two young men riding a white scooter. The Carabinieri of the Quarto station took his statement and immediately launched a search.
Shortly thereafter, a patrol intercepts the reported scooter. Upon seeing the officers, the two young men accelerate, sparking a dangerous chase through the busy streets of the city center. They manage to disappear, but their escape is short-lived.
The Carabinieri, in fact, launched a rapid investigation, meticulously analyzing surveillance camera footage and collecting testimonies from those present.
The reconstruction proves successful. The officers manage to trace the fugitives' route to their respective homes. During the searches, the weapon is also recovered: a blank-firing pistol, but without its red safety cap, which had been thrown into a garbage dumpster in an attempt to dispose of it. The scooter used in the raid is also located and seized.
The two minors, both fifteen and with no criminal record, were arrested on charges of resisting arrest and threatening a public official, carrying a weapon, and making dangerous explosions.
After the usual formalities, they were transferred to the Colli Aminei first reception center. Their arrest not only brings to a close a night of violence, but once again raises the curtain on an educational and criminal emergency that shows no signs of abating.
Fourth – A tragic workplace accident occurred for Gennaro Sommella, 84, a Phlegraean retiree: the elderly man was crushed to death by a tree he was felling for firewood on a farm on Via Masullo. His body was found last night after hours of fruitless searching. The alarm and the discovery: The man had left his home in…
