The public beach of Bagnoli continues to show the most bitter side of Naples. Months after the first reports, the shore is still overwhelmed by debris, piles of trash, and a makeshift camp illegally occupying the area closed to bathing. A new video sent to Green-Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli documents abandoned towels, mattresses, and materials piled up near the Pietra, in completely unacceptable sanitary conditions.
“You can't see this shit down by the sea”, complains one citizen, highlighting the gap between the major events the city hosts and the daily neglect left on residents' shoulders. The comment is bitter and direct, and Borrelli delivers it bluntly: the contrast between Naples' international image and the state of neglect of the western coastline. "It's unacceptable", he claims. “Bagnoli cannot remain an open-air landfill or a makeshift dormitory for the most vulnerable.”
The MP believes immediate action is needed on two fronts: restoring the beach's pristine condition and providing care for the homeless. This two-pronged plan is essential to restore dignity to the area and offer a real alternative to those living in critical conditions. “It's not just a question of waste”, warns Borrelli. “Every day in these conditions is a defeat for the city.”

It's truly sad to see how Bagnoli beach has been abandoned. The garbage and debris are a disgrace, especially in a city like Naples, which should be a jewel of the sea. We must act.
