Battipaglia - The Salerno Financial Police have seized assets worth over €4,6 million, as part of an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office and ordered by the investigating judge of the Salerno Court.

The measure targets six companies based in the Salerno area, believed to be part of a complex tax fraud scheme conducted through the issuance and use of invoices for non-existent transactions.

The investigation, conducted by officers from the Battipaglia Company, uncovered a network of businesses traceable to a single family group. The ad hoc companies were used to generate fictitious tax credits, reduce VAT due, and illegally obtain state and regional public funding, particularly within programs co-financed by the Campania Regional Operational Programme (ROP) ERDF 2014-2020.

According to the findings, the system was fueled by false invoices totaling over one million euros. The accounting transactions appeared formally regular, but lacked any actual underlying economic activity. In this way, the companies involved accrued undue tax credits and benefited from public funding for development and innovation projects.

Seven individuals and six companies have been reported to the Judicial Authorities for various crimes, including fraudulent tax returns, issuing and using non-existent invoices, improper tax credit offsetting, failure to pay VAT, and aggravated fraud against the State.

The precautionary seizure involved bank accounts, financial assets, credit, and other company assets worth an amount equivalent to the illicit profits. The operation is part of the Guardia di Finanza's plan to combat tax fraud and the misuse of public resources earmarked for business support.
