San Leucio del Sannio – A severe blow to illegal construction and waste trafficking in the Sannio region. A joint operation conducted by the Montesarchio Forestry Carabinieri and the San Leucio del Sannio Municipal Police led to the precautionary seizure of a construction site where significant illegal construction was underway and a large quantity of waste was stored.
The operation is the culmination of a series of investigations aimed at combating these illicit practices, which are increasingly widespread in the area. The seizure order was promptly validated by the Preliminary Investigations Judge (GIP) of the Court of Benevento.
On site, the military found an active construction site where work had begun in the total absence of the necessary permits and authorizations.
Among the violations identified were the partial demolition of an existing building and significant excavation of the land. These actions, carried out in violation of urban planning regulations, constitute the crime of illegal building.
Complicating the situation was the discovery of a veritable illegal landfill within and immediately adjacent to the construction site. The military found a vast array of hazardous waste, in clear violation of environmental regulations.
The materials illegally disposed of included:
Non-hazardous special waste: mainly rubble, bricks, ferrous and mixed demolition materials.

At the end of the operation, the person responsible for the illegal activity was reported to the Judicial Authority for the crimes of illegal building and illegal waste management, in violation of the Consolidated Law on Environmental Matters and urban planning regulations.
The area remains under seizure pending further judicial decisions.
