Naples – A swift operation by the State Police disrupted a drug dealing attempt in the heart of Scampia, one of the neighborhoods most affected by the fight against organized crime. Yesterday early afternoon, officers from the Naples Flying Squad and the Scampia Police Station, engaged in targeted patrols, intercepted a suspicious car on Via Labriola, turning a routine patrol into a chase that led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man from Villaricca.
It all began when officers, during a patrol, spotted a vehicle with two occupants heading toward a condominium park. The two individuals, visibly nervous, entered the park and then quickly exited, attracting the officers' attention. Suspicious of their evasive behavior—a classic sign of illicit activity in an area with a high drug-dealing density—the investigators decided to intervene immediately.
Not far away, on Via Galimberti, the car was stopped. A search revealed the haul: a bag containing 14 packages of cocaine, weighing approximately 110 grams, ready to be placed on the black market. The 31-year-old, identified as the main culprit, was arrested on the spot for illegal possession of narcotics pursuant to Article 73 of Presidential Decree 309/1990. The other occupant of the car was identified and released pending further investigation.
The suspect was taken to Poggioreale prison, pending a summary hearing scheduled for today. Investigations are continuing to identify possible accomplices or broader supply channels.
