Afragola– A veritable door-to-door drug dealing ring, a hub for local drug addicts, was dismantled yesterday afternoon in a State Police raid.
A 29-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman from Afragola, known to law enforcement for a prior conviction, were arrested on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The operation, part of the extraordinary territorial control operations ordered by the Naples Police Headquarters, took place on Via Salicelle. Officers from the Afragola Police Station, during a patrol, were alerted by an unusual coming and going of people in front of a ground-floor apartment. A suspicious coming and going, typical of a drug dealer's "clients."
Taking advantage of a buyer's outing, the police raided the couple's home, putting an end to their illicit activity. The search uncovered the dealer's small arsenal: 25 doses of marijuana and 8 of hashish, weighing a total of approximately 46 grams. But that's not all.
On the table, the officers found the "tools of the trade": €890 in small bills, likely the proceeds of the sale, a precision scale for measuring the goods, and all the packaging materials. Completing the picture was a knife whose blade was found to be soaked in narcotics, a macabre work tool.
The bottle and the evidence collected left the two men helpless, and they were immediately arrested and taken to prison. The operation represents another blow to drug dealing hubs in the Neapolitan hinterland, demonstrating the vigilance of law enforcement in an often challenging area.

Yesterday's operation in Afragola appears to be a positive step forward in the fight against drug dealing, but there's still much to be done. We hope this focus continues to reduce problems in the area and improve safety.
