Boscoreale - The hunt for those responsible for the murder of Pasquale Nappo, the 18-year-old shot to death in Piazza Pace, Boscoreale, in the province of Naples, has ended in less than twenty-four hours.
Two young men from Torre Annunziata, aged 18 and 23, were arrested after voluntarily turning themselves in to the Carabinieri overnight and are now charged with voluntary homicide. The rapid investigation conducted by the Torre Annunziata Investigative Unit allowed them to reconstruct in just a few hours the details of the shooting that shocked the small town on the Vesuvius.
According to reports, the 23-year-old was riding a scooter, while the younger man, the victim's age, allegedly grabbed a gun and opened fire on a group of young people in the square. At least three shots were fired from the gun, one of which struck Nappo in the chest, proving fatal.
The eighteen-year-old, with no criminal record but considered to be connected to drug dealing circles in Scafati, was rescued and rushed to the San Leonardo hospital in Castellammare di Stabia, where he died shortly after admission.

The Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office has issued an arrest warrant for both young men, while investigations continue to clarify the motive and the source of the weapon used in the attack.
Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the murder may have been caused by a conflict involving youth criminals or old neighborhood rivalries.
Meanwhile, Boscoreale has awakened to silence and fear. In Piazza Pace, amid the flowers and candles left by friends, Pasquale Nappo's name has already become a symbol of another bloody night at the foot of Vesuvius.

It's truly sad that a young man of only 18 lost his life in this way. The street violence must end, but I don't know how. Young people need more opportunities to avoid falling into crime.
