Torre Annunziata - Four life sentences. This is the heavy-handed sentence requested by Public Prosecutors Andreana Ambrosino and Giuliana Moccia at the end of a scathing closing argument before the Naples Assize Court.

A request calling for "never-ending sentences" for the four defendants charged with the murder of Antonio Morione, the Boscoreale fishmonger killed with a gunshot to the head during a robbery on the evening of December 23, 2021, a few hours before Christmas.

Sitting in the dock are Giuseppe Vangone, believed to be the actual perpetrator of the crime; Luigi Di Napoli, who according to the prosecution supplied him with the weapon; and the alleged accomplices Francesco Acunzo and Angelo Palumbo.

For all of them, the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office has requested the maximum sentence, maintaining full co-responsibility in the organization and execution of a criminal plan that culminated in bloodshed.

The reconstruction of that tragic evening is chilling. The gang, after attempting a robbery at the victim's brother's fish shop, decided to rob Antonio Morione's business. Faced with the bandits' violence, Morione responded with a desperate act of courage: he left the shop to slash a tire on their car and prevent their escape. A heroic attempt that cost him his life.

The key evidence in the trial is a surveillance video that captured the dramatic sequence. The footage allegedly shows one of the robbers, identified by investigators as Giuseppe Vangone, already known for his ties to the Limelli-Vangone clan, firing at the fishmonger at point-blank range.

According to the prosecution, the one who passed the gun to him was Luigi Di Napoli, a figure already infamous in the news for a previous conviction related to the attempted murder of his own lawyer. Life sentences were also requested for Francesco Acunzo and Angelo Palumbo, accused of playing a key role in planning both robberies against the Morione brothers.

With the prosecutors' closing statement, a crucial chapter in the trial closes. The floor now turns to the defense's oral arguments, before the court retires to deliberate on a crime that has profoundly shaken an entire community.
