The fight against environmental crimes in the Land of Fires continues unabated. In recent days, the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Caserta Provincial Command, have intensified inspections in an area that has been battling illegal dumping, illegal activities, and the accumulation of hazardous waste for years. The inspections, carried out by the companies and forestry units of the affected municipalities, involved Casal di Principe, Teverola, Gricignano di Aversa, and Villa Literno, leading to the seizure of five areas and the reporting of four people.

In Casal di Principe, between November 21st and 29th, investigations uncovered illegal manufacturing operations. On Via San Donato, a construction company was producing concrete without permits, burning industrial waste, and dumping sludge directly onto the road. The surrounding agricultural land was littered with all kinds of waste: tires, ferrous scrap, used oil, and mechanical materials. A second operation on Via Bovio led to the seizure of a body shop without the required permits and filled with hazardous waste such as paint, oil, and metal components.

In Teverola, on November 26, a joint inspection between the local station and the Marcianise Forestry Department led to the seizure of a company reserve within the PIP area, where ferrous materials classified as hazardous special waste were stored. The owner was reported and faces fines of over sixteen thousand euros.

In Gricignano di Aversa, two days earlier, the Carabinieri discovered approximately fifteen tons of waste abandoned along a consortium road near Via della Stazione. The area, effectively transformed into an open-air landfill, was seized and handed over to the Municipality for cleanup and classification.

The last intervention dates back to November 20th in Villa Literno, where a thousand-square-meter farmland on Via Vecchia Aversa contained used oil, paint cans, tires, and other ferrous materials. Investigations are underway to identify those responsible for the spill.

The findings confirm the seriousness of the situation: five areas have been seized and four people have been reported. The Carabinieri assures that checks will continue throughout the province in the coming days, with the aim of combating environmental crimes and protecting the health of citizens.

It's important that authorities conduct more frequent checks. Abandoned waste is a serious problem for public health and the environment. We hope these actions will yield concrete and lasting results.
