In Casal di Principe, the villa confiscated from Gaetano Darione, a prominent figure in the Casalesi clan, which had been occupied without title by three people, has been liberated. The operation, coordinated by the Casal di Principe Police Headquarters, Caserta Conducted by officers from the local police station, with the support of the Carabinieri, local police, and municipal representatives, it returned to the state a property that had been stolen from organized crime for years. Before proceeding with the raid, the operators cut off the utilities, a necessary measure to avoid risks and ensure an orderly outcome of the operation.
There were moments of tension: the occupants initially refused to leave the property, but the situation calmed down and the family eventually abandoned the villa. Once vacated, the property was formally assigned to the Municipality of Casal di Principe by the National Agency for Seized and Confiscated Assets, with the administration aiming to transform it into the headquarters of the local Social Affairs Department, should the role of lead Municipality materialize.
The same day, the eviction of the villa confiscated from Giuseppe Setola, the former leader of the Casalesi family's organized crime wing, was also scheduled. He has been sentenced to numerous life sentences, including for the massacre of Ghanaians in Castel Volturno. However, the operation was postponed due to a notification error and will be rescheduled as soon as the issue is resolved. Two people believed to be squatters still live in the property.
