Casavatore - The De Curtis school was officially inaugurated after its renovation. Singer Franco Ricciardi was in attendance. The new spaces, created thanks to approximately €1.500.000 in funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), included, in addition to the standard renovations, a complete renovation of the gym, the creation of an outdoor play and fitness area for educational activities, the painting of the classrooms and corridors, and the renovation of the parking lot.

A central element of the project was the involvement of the students, who participated in the preliminary phase 18 months ago by proposing ideas, suggesting a specific color palette, and asking to leave the perimeter wall free for future murals.

The students themselves saw their choices come to fruition, enthusiastically participating in the inauguration ceremony. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by students, teachers, residents, institutional and religious authorities, and a surprise guest: singer Franco Ricciardi.

His presence, kept secret until the last minute, stirred great emotion among the students, who welcomed him enthusiastically. Ricciardi spoke to the students and answered their many questions, explaining how it is possible to achieve one's dreams with determination and sacrifice.

The story of Franco Ricciardi, now a nationally recognized figure and winner of two David di Donatello awards, demonstrates how far commitment and talent can go. "We wanted to inaugurate the school in a special way, because they are not simply buildings: they are places where the future takes shape," stated Democratic Party councilor Elsa Picaro.

Our students deserve places that make them feel important, respected, and at the center of the community. Education in beauty is a powerful educational language, one that speaks even before words. It teaches us to recognize the value of things well done, to cultivate taste, to respect what is common, to imagine a better tomorrow.

Mayor Fabrizio Celaj also emphasized: "After the renovation, the De Curtis school is finally back to its former glory. The best surprise? The presence of artist Franco Ricciardi, a surprise guest for our students who brought smiles, excitement, and so much energy to our students. A special thanks to all the school staff, parents, teachers, our officials, and everyone who made this renovation possible for their great teamwork."

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Alessandro Sorrentino also emphasized that "being present, seeing the students' enthusiasm and the pride of teachers and families, reminds us how crucial it is to invest in schools and in the future of the new generations." The event was attended by the Commander of the Local Police, Francesco Perrella, the city councilors, the Democratic Party Regent, Domenico Panella, and the Italian Red Cross of the Naples North Committee.

The inauguration of the De Curtis school was a beautiful sight, but there were many problems during the construction. I don't know if this restyling was truly necessary or if the PNRR funds were well spent.
