Casavatore – Events in remembrance: the municipal administration commemorated, with a large public demonstration in Piazza Di Nocera, the Day of National Unity and the Day of Strength armed.

The event, held the morning before yesterday, saw the gathering and deployment of civil, military, and religious authorities. This was followed by institutional speeches by the mayor, the flag-raising ceremony at the war memorial erected in the square, and the laying of laurel wreaths at the gravestones and other commemorative markers located throughout the area.

In the square were Mayor Fabrizio Celaj, Prime Minister Alessandro Sorrentino, Councilor Vincenza Esposito, Parish Priest Don Carmine Caponetto, and Councilors Giuseppe Marco De Rosa, Vincenzo Marotta, Vito Marino, and Elena Alessio. A delegation from the Democratic Party and the Spinuso List were also present.

"We wanted to remember and honor the sacrifice of all those who fought and gave their lives for Italy, from the wars of independence to international peacekeeping missions," the mayor stated. "Our nation owes much to these silent heroes who protected our freedom and sovereignty, often paying with their own blood and personal sacrifice.

The commemoration event was an important moment to remember the fallen, but I noticed that public participation was not very high and perhaps more could have been done to involve people in the event.
