Casavatorre: "When I took over the Corps, we embarked on an unprecedented operational relaunch, despite staff shortages and well-known structural challenges. Record-keeping activity saw significant increases: +325% in September compared to August, +64% in October, and an overall increase of 297% compared to starting levels.
We have also doubled the weekly environmental checks, increasing by 90% the inspection activity dedicated to combating waste abandonment". "This strengthening - explains the commander - has led to the systematic reporting of offenders and to a clear improvement in urban decorum.
In the fight against urban decay, we have eliminated approximately 94% of abandoned vehicles in the area, managing to operate without any additional expense to the municipal coffers, thanks to optimized removal and recovery procedures.
In collaboration with the Environmental Department, we have issued targeted ordinances for extraordinary cleaning and urban decorum, addressing the most critical streets and restoring safety and livability.
Regarding road safety, we have launched a tender for the reconstruction of pedestrian crossings, with the aim of increasing pedestrian protection and making traffic safer." The commander also elaborates on the data regarding the fight against illegal construction.
"The activity of the Municipal Police has also been intensified on the building front:
We have increased checks on urban planning and construction irregularities, intervening more frequently and promptly on construction sites and in high-risk areas.
Dedicated checkpoints have been set up at sensitive points in the city, while over the weekend the service has been reorganized with doubling the patrols to ensure greater security during peak traffic times.
The “Street Control” system was also introduced, which allowed for modern and effective monitoring of illegal parking, reducing obstruction and danger.
All this has been possible thanks to the tireless work of my team: a small but highly motivated team, who operate on the streets every day with professionalism, a sense of duty, and a spirit of service. The results achieved, despite the challenges, demonstrate that the Municipal Police can be a strong, visible, and credible force, capable of truly impacting the safety, decorum, and livability of the city.
Our journey of improvement continues: we are building a modern, effective Municipal Police force with a strong local presence, serving citizens and upholding the rule of law.
