Casoria – The fire that broke out yesterday afternoon, around 17:30 PM, aboard a diesel tanker could have turned into a real tragedy, with incalculable consequences for traffic and public safety.
The incident occurred on the H39 link road, the crucial junction for the Naples ring road, in a densely trafficked area and close to large shopping centres.
Dozens of motorists raised the alarm after noticing the large vehicle stopped on the right side of the road, with flames rising from the side and threatening to reach the tank containing the highly flammable liquid.
Race against time to tame the flames
The rescue operation was activated immediately. The timely and timely intervention of the Afragola Fire Department was crucial. The "red helmets" engaged in a veritable race against time to extinguish the blaze and prevent the flames from spreading to the fuel. Their swift action averted the worst, securing the area.

Initial hypotheses on the origin of the fire lean towards a mechanical failure or a short circuit that triggered the fire on a tire.
Major intervention and traffic at a standstill
To ensure maximum safety and emergency management, the road was promptly secured and closed to traffic. A massive deployment of forces included the coordinated presence of Carabinieri, Highway Police, Autostrade personnel, and, on the front lines managing local traffic, the Casoria Local Police, led by Commander Pasquale Pugliese.
After hours of work, the Fire Brigade managed to completely contain the fire and clear the area, eliminating any risk to motorists.
The Mayor of Casoria, Raffaele Bene, expressed his heartfelt thanks to all those who responded, praising in particular the prompt action of the Local Police and emergency workers. Only thanks to their professionalism and coordination was it possible to prevent a minor breakdown from escalating into a disaster with far more serious consequences.
