Officers from the local station, supported by the mobile radio unit, responded urgently to a private home to stop a violent family dispute. The perpetrator was a 43-year-old local man, already known to law enforcement, who, suffering from withdrawal symptoms, attacked his 75-year-old mother.
The dynamics reconstructed by investigators are chilling: the elderly woman refused to give her son the money needed to purchase drugs. This refusal unleashed the man's blind fury, who first beat the woman and then attempted to strangle her. Only a sudden return to sanity prevented the worst, with the attacker then fleeing.
