Civitanova Marche – A bloody night on the SS77 highway, in the heart of the Macerata province. Around 1:00 a.m., a 48-year-old motorcyclist, a resident of Civitanova Marche but originally from Naples, lost control of his BMW and crashed onto the asphalt near the A14 toll booth.
As he lay motionless on the ground, he was tragically hit by two oncoming cars, which were unable to avoid the sudden obstacle despite desperate braking.
The accident, which occurred in poor visibility on one of the region's busiest roads, caused panic among nighttime drivers.

There was no escape for the victim, however: paramedics arriving on the scene could only confirm his death, caused by multiple wounds and a head injury. The circumstances of the incident, still under investigation by investigators, point to a spontaneous exit from the road, perhaps facilitated by a wet road surface following the autumn rains that have raged in the Marche region in recent hours.
The SS77, known for its sharp bends and heavy traffic, remains a critical point for road safety: in the last two years alone, according to traffic police data, the road has recorded over 150 accidents, resulting in around twenty fatalities, including several motorcyclists. An emergency task force arrived at the scene of the tragedy: the Civitanova Marche traffic police cordoned off the stretch for hours, diverting traffic and reconstructing the sequence of events with the help of cameras and eyewitness accounts.

This news is truly tragic and makes us reflect on how dangerous the road can be, especially at night. I hope safety improvements are made on the SS77, which has seen too many similar accidents.
