Avellino's Chief Prosecutor, Domenico Airoma, is preparing to leave the Irpinia capital to take over the Prosecutor's Office in North Naples. This appointment marks his return to an area he knows well: until 2021, Airoma served as Deputy Prosecutor in the Naples metropolitan area's judicial office.
The decision came from the Fifth Committee of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, which unanimously approved the transfer at the suggestion of rapporteur Enrico Aimi. This unanimous vote confirms the magistrate's high regard within the self-governing body of the judiciary, the same body that confirmed him in his senior positions a few days earlier.
The handover
The official ratification of the appointment is expected next December, when the CSM plenum will meet to formalize the change in leadership. In Avellino, according to the Superior Council of the Judiciary's recommendations, the current Deputy Prosecutor Francesco Raffaele is expected to succeed him, in what appears to be a transition within the Irpinia Prosecutor's Office.
In North Naples, Airoma will replace Maria Antonietta Troncone, marking the beginning of a new era for a judicial office that covers a vast and complex area of the Naples metropolitan area. The magistrate's return to an area she has already experienced closely could ensure continuity in the fight against crime and the administration of justice in one of the most sensitive areas of Campania.
