A complex operation conducted by the military of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Foggia, in collaboration with the Penitentiary Police of the local prison, led to the execution of two precautionary measures against two officers serving at the city penitentiary.
In particular, the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the Court of Foggia ordered a precautionary prison sentence and a one-year suspension from holding public office.
The investigation and the suspicions
The investigation, coordinated by the Economic and Financial Police Unit and the Foggia Financial Police Group, with the support of the Puglia and Basilicata Regional Investigative Unit (NIC) and the Foggia Penitentiary Police Department, has uncovered a pattern of alleged wrongdoing within the prison.
According to what has emerged, the two officers allegedly brought cell phones and SIM cards intended for inmates into the facility.

Investigators emphasize that the investigation is still ongoing and that, at this stage, all those involved must be presumed innocent until a final conviction is reached, in full compliance with the principle of presumption of innocence and adversarial proceedings between the parties.
The operation represents a new example of interinstitutional collaboration between the various components of the security forces. The synergy between the Guardia di Finanza and the Penitentiary Police, investigative sources explain, has allowed the uncovering of potentially illegal conduct within the particularly sensitive context of prisons.
This joint commitment confirms the authorities' commitment to maintaining high levels of vigilance and firmly combating any form of corruption or illicit trafficking within prison walls.

The article discusses major operations conducted by the Guardia di Finanza, but it's also important to note that the investigation is still ongoing and no one is guilty until proven innocent, so caution is needed when judging.
