Naples – A boost for Campania commuters: the second T-Rainbow train enters service on the Piscinola-Aversa metro line, strengthening EAV's fleet with cutting-edge Spanish technology.
With a €100 million investment, the Ente Autonomo Volturno aims to triple transport capacity, reducing traffic chaos and integrating the networks with ANM for a smooth future.
The new train, built by the Spanish manufacturer CAF, is the second of ten trains purchased with funding from the Campania Region. The first has been operational since September 25th, while two more have arrived in Naples and will be operational by January 2026. The final six will be completed by the end of next year, radically transforming local mobility.

These T-Rainbow trains, identical to those in use on Line 1 operated by ANM, are veritable giants on rails: each train has six interconnecting carriages, a length of 108 meters and a capacity of approximately 1.200 passengers, including over 130 seats. "We're tripling the current capacity per train," EAV emphasizes, noting that the arrival of these vehicles not only improves comfort and safety—with larger spaces and modern systems—but also increases connections to Aversa, easing traffic on provincial roads.
Integration with the ANM network will become a reality with the future completion of the ring road and the Piscinola hub, aiming for a unified service seamlessly connecting the two transport companies. In a context of increasingly pressing commuting, this expansion is not just an infrastructure upgrade, but a strategic weapon against crowding and emissions, promoting a greener and more connected Campania.
