Sant'Arpino – An illegal landfill of gigantic proportions, weighing ten tons, was discovered and seized by the Carabinieri of the Sant'Arpino station. The haul from the land control operation wasn't drugs or weapons, but a monstrous pile of rubber and garbage: a pile as tall as a two-story building, composed of used tires, municipal solid waste, and mattresses, recklessly abandoned along Via Astragata.
The military's intervention, seemingly routine, brought to light a devastated area. The 25 cubic meters of non-hazardous waste, though free of toxic substances, represent a severe blow to urban decorum and an insult to legality. The entire area was immediately placed under criminal seizure, sealed off as a crime scene, which in this case was a crime against the environment.

The documentation has been notified to the Municipal Technical Office, while unknown persons have already been charged with the serious charge of unauthorized waste management. This crime, under the Environmental Code, carries severe penalties. But the hunt for those responsible is only just beginning. The Carabinieri investigation is now focused on one primary objective: tracing whoever, in the darkness of the night, dumped that heavy burden, attempting to make the cost of legal waste disposal disappear into thin air, or onto a suburban lot.
The Via Astragata incident is not an isolated case, but the latest, alarming example of a widespread phenomenon: the illegal dumping of hazardous waste, an illicit business that poisons the environment and challenges institutions. The Province of Caserta, long at the forefront of the fight against environmental crimes, finds itself dealing with yet another dumping incident that once again shines a spotlight on the waste emergency and the need to crack down on environmental predators.
