The future of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium for the 2032 European Championships remains uncertain. Speaking on the Campania24 program on Canale 9, Minister of Sport Andrea Abodi highlighted how the positions of the City of Naples and the Neapolitan club appear "distant" and in the process of further distancing themselves, a situation that could jeopardize the stadium's candidacy as one of the five Italian stadiums selected to host the continental competition.
“I've been saying this for months – explained Abodi – The choice of stadiums is a competition among 12-13 cities. Whether Naples and the Maradona will be included depends on the city administration and the club."
The minister then underlined the urgency of a shared strategy, recalling that the final list must be ready by September 2026: "Naples needs a compatible and sustainable stadium. Within my role, I will try to facilitate a meeting to discuss our respective positions."
