Severe weather continues to hit Irpinia hard. Torrential rains overnight caused a large-scale landslide on Mount Partenio, forcing the closure of the state road leading to the sanctuary of Montevergine, in the Ospedaletto d'Alpinolo area. The mass of mud, debris, and rock completely covered the roadway, making traffic impossible. Fortunately, no motorists were involved.
Since the early hours of the morning, numerous firefighter teams from Avellino, Naples, and Salerno have been working to secure the area and assess the extent of the damage.

Inspection and safety operations will continue throughout the day, while vigilance remains high due to the risk of further rockfalls.
