Fuorigrotta is plunged back into fear. A hail of Molotov cocktails set Via Cumana ablaze overnight, considered by investigators to be the operational heart of the Troncone clan. The raid destroyed four cars and three scooters parked along the street, reviving the explosive tensions between criminal groups vying for control of the area.
According to initial reconstructions, the attackers appeared in the dead of night, taking advantage of the nearly deserted streets. They struck with surgical precision in the area identified as the Troncone "bunker," yet another sign of a strategy of attrition already seen in recent months with ambushes, beatings, and intimidating "sweeps" in the streets of Fuorigrotta.
The investigation is focusing on the Iadonisi-Sorianiello cartel, allied with the emerging Via Campegna group, which has long been identified as the Troncone's military counterpart. Investigators do not rule out the possibility that the arson attack is the latest step in a carefully planned escalation: a response to previous provocations or a warning of a shift in the balance of illicit activities in the area, from drug dealing to extortion rackets.
In recent months, Fuorigrotta has been rocked by a series of incidents that, when read together, form the mosaic of a low-intensity war. Lightning attacks, punitive raids against rival clan supporters, gunshots fired wildly into the air or at shutters: demonstrative "laydowns" that have sown panic among residents and marked the borders of a disputed territory meter by meter.
The Troncone clan, already targeted for other attacks and intimidation, appears to be under fire today. The Molotov cocktail raid on Via Cumana appears to be part of a well-tested pattern: targeting the group's symbols of power to undermine its prestige and ability to control the neighborhood. Burning cars and scooters thus become a visible sign of a challenge hurled at the gang in front of the entire neighborhood.

Investigators are combing through surveillance camera footage in the area and cross-referencing the evidence with police and Carabinieri reports on criminal activity in Fuorigrotta.
On the investigators' desk there is already an updated map of the alliances: on one side the Troncone block and their historical contacts, on the other the Ladonisi–Sorianiello front with the young people of Via Campegna, determined to carve out an ever larger space for themselves in drug trafficking and in the drug dealing areas.
Meanwhile, tension is rising in the neighborhood. Many residents are speaking in hushed tones, fearing a new spiral of violence and recalling the past few months as a relentless cycle of sirens, patrols, and plastic tape cordoning off crime scenes.
Local associations are calling for greater state presence and tighter controls, while the Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) is closely monitoring the conflict, fearing a dramatic escalation in the clashes between the clans.
For investigators, the night of fire on Via Cumana isn't an isolated incident, but yet another piece of a silent war that is reshaping the balance of power within the Camorra in Fuorigrotta. A war that, once again, is being fought on the streets, under the windows of those trying to live normally in a neighborhood transformed into a battlefield.

The situation in Fuorigrotta is truly worrying, with increasing incidents of violence and fear among residents. The authorities should do more to ensure safety and stop this seemingly never-ending escalation.
