Rome – The passion for sushi in Italy continues to grow, as confirmed by Gambero Rosso's new 2026 Sushi Guide: Milan remains the most awarded city for Japanese cuisine and, along with Rome, confirms its leadership in promoting sake. But it's Naples that takes the "Newcomer of the Year" title with Ruri Kaiseki, recognized for its original and high-quality offerings.
Presented at the Spazio Field in Rome, the third edition of the guide reviews 230 establishments, with over 50 new entries, and increases the number of establishments awarded the Tre Bacchetta, the highest recognition in the sector, which rises to 42, with 11 new entries distributed throughout the country.

Pina Sozio, the guide's editor, emphasizes the connection between Italian and Japanese gastronomic traditions, based on the valorization of raw ingredients and the constant pursuit of perfection.

From elegant fine-dining restaurants to omakase counters, Italy thus confirms its growing passion for the Land of the Rising Sun, with Naples poised to carve out a leading role in the national scene.
