Giugliano - There were moments of unusual tension this morning in the church on Via Oasi, where Carabinieri from the Giugliano Company responded after a curious incident was reported during Mass.
According to the reconstruction, a 67-year-old man, a local resident and already known to law enforcement, burst into the church during the Eucharistic celebration. Once inside, he began playing a drum, attracting the attention of the congregation and interrupting the service. The impromptu performance lasted several minutes before the man decided to leave voluntarily.
Initial speculation suggests the man's actions stemmed from long-standing annoyance with the ringing of the parish bells. This complaint, it appears, is not new.
I police, having arrived on the scene, they immediately began a conversation with the parish priest. At that point, the priest had not indicated any intention of filing a complaint, merely reporting what had happened.
Law enforcement continues to monitor the situation to determine whether the man's behavior could repeat itself or escalate, while the community remains stunned by the unusual interruption of Sunday worship.
