Gricignano di Aversa – A tense Halloween evening escalated from a simple fight between animals into a case of insulting and threatening law enforcement. A 53-year-old man, a resident of Gricignano with a criminal record, was reported at large by the Carabinieri. He faces serious charges: threats and insulting a public official.

It all began late yesterday evening, October 31st, when a man's frantic call to the emergency number 112 came in. He pleaded for help, saying he and his dog had been attacked. The perpetrator, he claimed, was a pitbull belonging to a local woman.

The rescue operation was activated immediately. Two patrols converged on the indicated location: one from the Sant'Arpino Carabinieri Station and one from the Operations and Radiomobile Unit of the Marcianise Company.

But it is when the uniforms arrive that the situation unexpectedly degenerates.

Rather than calm down, the 53-year-old explodes into a furious protest. He rails against the officers, accusing them of failing to intervene "in a timely manner." His anger focuses on one point: he demands immediate medical attention for his dog.

This request baffles the Carabinieri, who, upon examining the animal, note that it has no obvious injuries. The discrepancy between the agitated request and the dog's apparent state of health further heightens tension.

The protests quickly devolved into a torrent of violent insults. From harsh words, they escalated to explicit threats. According to the reconstruction, the man had made clear death threats to the soldiers involved in the operation.

At that point, the intervention changed nature. Given the seriousness of the allegations and the man's state of agitation, already known to law enforcement, the 53-year-old was charged at liberty with threats and insulting a public official.

While the man was being charged, local health authority veterinarians also arrived on the scene to perform routine health checks on both animals involved in the initial fight. The Judicial Authority has been informed of the incident, and the Carabinieri are continuing their investigations to clarify the exact circumstances of the fight between the dogs, an event that has now been overshadowed by the owner's disproportionate reaction.

Reading this article, it seems to me that the situation has been exaggerated. I don't understand how a fight between animals could lead to threats against law enforcement. I hope everything resolves itself well.
