The judicial strand of the "Dolce Vita" mega-investigation has reached court with a joint indictment: the preliminary hearing judge of the Avellino Court, Mauro Tringali, has ordered the trial of twenty-six suspects, while one case has been separated due to a notification error. The decision, reached after three hours of deliberation, confirms the full validity of the charges brought by the Prosecutor's Office, led by Domenico Airoma, which investigated contracts, sponsorships, and insolvency proceedings of the Municipality of Avellino.
No changes to the charges and a clear message on the judicial front: the trial will begin on April 24th before the panel presided over by Judge Sonia Matarazzo, with the Municipality itself recognized as a civil party. This decision signals the institution's willingness to take a stand in the proceedings, which have raised questions about its administrative management in recent years.
At the same time, the trial date for former mayor Gianluca Festa has been set for January 23rd. Festa has opted for an immediate trial, separating himself from the other defendants and thus anticipating the courtroom review of the charges. The "Dolce Vita" investigation thus becomes a crucial step for the city, not only from a judicial perspective, but also from a political and administrative one, with a trial process that promises to be lengthy and destined to leave profound marks on public debate.
