Treviso confirms itself as one of the most peaceful provinces in Italy, but behind the apparent serenity a dark side emerges. According to theCrime Index 2025 published by Sun 24 HoursTreviso ranks 101st out of 107 provinces in terms of reported crimes: just 2.330,8 per 100 inhabitants, for a total of 20.454 reports. These numbers, on paper, paint a picture of a safe, stable area with very low crime rates.

Yet, behind the comforting statistics there is a worrying record: Treviso is the “Italian capital of baby gangs”No other province, in fact, records such a high percentage of minors involved in robberies and assaults. In 2024, 9,5% of those reported or arrested in the Marche region were under 18, nearly double the national average. This figure highlights an increasingly evident youth problem, where rebellion translates into violence and gang delinquency.

At a national level, the phenomenon of child gangs is constantly growing.

Between 2020 and 2024, the number of minors reported or arrested in Italy increased from 29.544 to 38.247, a 30% increase. A quarter of street robberies and assaults involve very young people, often organized and increasingly violent. Treviso, with its record rate, thus becomes the symbol of a phenomenon that no longer affects only the outskirts of large cities but is also spreading to medium-sized and small towns, where such incidents were once thought to be exceptional.

The contradiction is evident: the Veneto province remains one of the safest in the country, yet at the same time it displays deep cracks in its social fabric. Experts speak of an "educational short circuit," aggravated by distorted behavioral models, growing digital alienation, and a lack of spaces and support networks for young people.

All things considered, Treviso remains a virtuous area: thefts and computer fraud are declining, robberies are limited, and serious crimes are rare. But while the safety of adults is under control, that of the younger generations seems increasingly fragile. The real challenge now will be to understand how to stop this decline before the "Treviso exception" becomes a negative model for the rest of the country.
