Campania continues to grapple with a wave of severe weather that, while weakening, shows no signs of abating. After a day marked by widespread rainfall and intense thunderstorms, the regional Civil Protection Department has decided to extend the state of alert for another twenty-four hours, while reducing the criticality level from orange to yellow. This step represents only a partial improvement, because while the storms forecast for tomorrow are weaker, the ground remains fragile and waterlogged, resulting in localized risks for the region.

Until midnight today, many areas of the region, especially along the coast and in the most exposed inland areas, will remain under the orange level. Starting tomorrow, however, the entire region will move to yellow status: a less intense phase, characterized by scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, but still sufficient to generate localized hydraulic problems and slope instability. The residual risk associated with soil saturation will continue to be monitored, as it could trigger landslides even in the absence of further precipitation.

The storm is thus weakening, while the warning for strong winds and rough seas ends at midnight. The Civil Protection Department, however, urges municipalities to keep their coordination centers operational and to carefully follow the protocols set forth in municipal plans, continuing to monitor the area and taking action on public green spaces to prevent further problems. The Regional Operations Room remains active to provide constant updates during this phase, which must still be approached with caution.

It's important that authorities continue to monitor the situation even though the severe weather appears to be abating. Citizens must be well informed, and clear communication is needed to avoid confusion.
