Cerreto Sannita – A new hearing has been held in the trial regarding the alleged mistreatment of elderly residents in a facility in Cerreto Sannita, a case that has attracted the attention of the public and healthcare professionals for months.
During the hearing, the Court granted Salvatore Martorana's request to join the civil action. Martorana's position had been suspended due to the failure to notify the preliminary hearing order and the subsequent summons.
With the restitution within the deadline, Martorana will therefore be able to fully participate in the criminal proceedings as an injured party.
The preliminary hearing has opened
The session also marked the opening of the preliminary hearing, with the examination of the experts responsible for transcripts of the wiretapped telephone conversations and environmental recordings collected during the investigation.

Subsequently, NAS Marshal Di Sapio, involved in the inspection and verification activities of the facility, and Dr. De Blasio, an official of the Puglianello ASL, were interviewed. She was asked to provide clarification on the hygiene, health, and care conditions found during the period under investigation.
Change in the presidency of the College
The hearing also saw a change in the leadership of the judging panel: Judge Rotili resigned as president, replaced by Dr. Palmeri, who will lead the proceedings in the subsequent trial phases.
The defense team is composed of lawyers Massimo Viscusi, Antonio Barbieri, Cosimo Ciotta and Emiliano Vaccarella, committed to representing the positions of the defendants and contesting the accusations made by the Prosecutor's Office.
Next hearing in February
The Court adjourned the trial until February 19, when the examination of witnesses and experts is scheduled to continue, with the aim of reconstructing in detail the facts at issue in the proceedings.

Yes, I also think it's essential to clarify this situation. The elderly deserve to be treated with respect and dignity at all times.
The hearing was important for the elder abuse case, but I don't understand why there were delays in notifying the case. I hope all goes well for Martorana and the others.
