Civitanova Marche - A tragic sequence of events ended Gianluca Ausanio's life on the night between Friday and Saturday on the Superstrada 77 della Val di Chienti, near Civitanova Marche.

The 48-year-old, originally from Naples but a longtime resident of the Marche region, died after falling from his BMW and being hit violently by two cars that failed to avoid him.

The dynamics of the accident

The accident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on a stretch of the highway heading toward the sea, near the A14 toll booth. Ausanio was riding his motorcycle when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the guardrail. The force of the impact threw him onto the roadway, where he remained injured.

The poor night light made it impossible for the drivers of the two oncoming cars to avoid the motorcyclist.

Both vehicles struck him before they could stop. The shocked drivers immediately called emergency services and attempted to help the man.

The Civitanova Marche Highway Police, firefighters, and paramedics responded to the scene of the accident, but there was nothing they could do for Ausanio. The injuries sustained in the initial crash and subsequent collisions proved fatal.

The Prosecutor's Office will likely order an autopsy on the victim's body to clarify the precise dynamics of the accident and determine the impact factor that contributed to the death. Investigators are working to reconstruct the causes of the loss of control of the motorcycle and determine any liability.

The condolences of the city

Ausanio worked as an employee at a window and door company, and his partner, along with her brother, runs a bar near the Vecchia Pescheria (Old Fish Market) in Civitanova. Mayor Fabrizio Ciarapica, a friend of the victim's partner's brother, expressed the city administration's condolences: "The city joins the family in mourning. I express my solidarity and deepest sympathy for the loss of a life, especially at such a young age."

It's true, road safety should be a priority for everyone. I hope those responsible take appropriate measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.

This accident is very tragic and makes us reflect on how important it is to be careful when driving, especially at night. Unfortunately, too many similar things happen, and we hope the authorities do something to prevent these tragedies.
