Naples - The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, continues his commitment to the protection and restoration of the historical, artistic, and cultural heritage managed by the Fondo Edifici di Culto (FEC) in the Naples metropolitan area.
On November 20th, exploratory tests began on the piperno mullioned windows on the exterior façade of the Basilica of Santa Chiara, one of the city's most significant monumental complexes. The goal is to identify any damaged areas requiring immediate conservation intervention, ensuring the preservation of this Gothic-Angevin masterpiece for future generations.
The diagnostic investigations were funded with ordinary funds from the FEC – Ministry of the Interior, for a total of €151.857, and are being carried out by a specialized firm in collaboration with the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape for the City of Naples. This highly specialized activity allows for intervention even on difficult-to-access elements, ensuring targeted and long-lasting maintenance.
The project is part of a broader plan to enhance Neapolitan cultural heritage, which sees the Prefecture at the forefront of managing and safeguarding the assets owned by the FEC. Thanks to this institutional synergy, Naples confirms its leading role in the conservation of the national artistic heritage, with targeted interventions and resources dedicated to the protection of its most significant monuments.
