Naples - Widespread checks were conducted in the heart of the Roma camp on Via Grimaldi, in the Poggioreale neighborhood. The Carabinieri Forestale and the soldiers of the Naples-Poggioreale Company conducted a large-scale joint operation that exposed a vast network of illegal activities, focusing in particular on environmental safety and law enforcement.

The intervention's results are significant, with large seizures confirming the camp's status as a hub for illicit activity.

Red gold and high-tech goods

The specific skills of the Forestry Carabinieri They focused attention on environmental crimes and receiving stolen goods. Inside a single shack measuring approximately 20 square meters, the officers found and seized electronic goods worth a total of €10. Among the recovered items were drones, solar panels, LED lights, and cameras, all of dubious origin.

The most significant seizure, however, concerns red gold: 30 tons of copper electrical cables were found, a material highly sought after on the black market due to its high value.

The military's focus was not limited to illegal trafficking, but also included animal welfare. Two dogs were rescued from unacceptable detention conditions.

A chained pit bull was released after its owner, a 38-year-old woman, was reported for animal cruelty. The animal was immediately placed in the care of the local veterinary authority.

A second dog, a mixed-breed, was found in terrible sanitary conditions, locked inside an abandoned and dilapidated shack. Rescue procedures have also been initiated for this small mixed-breed dog and it will be treated by local health authorities (ASL) veterinarians.

The operation also provided an opportunity for a thorough check of the area and its occupants. Fifty-four people were identified, 13 of whom were already known to law enforcement.

To complete the picture of irregularities, ten vehicles were removed from the area. These were cars and vans that were uninsured, cannibalized, or in a clearly neglected state, contributing to environmental degradation and potential danger in the camp.
