Naples - Dario Lenci's sentence upheld on appeal: ten years in prison. The second section of the Naples Court of Appeal has upheld the ten-year prison sentence for Dario Lenci, held responsible for the double road homicide of Lucia Morra, 20, and Francesco Altamura, 23.
The two young men lost their lives on the evening of September 30, 2023, while riding their scooter along Via Terracina, in the Naples neighborhood of Fuorigrotta.
The dynamics: overtaking at full speed and lane invaded
According to the investigators' reconstruction and confirmed by the second-degree verdict, Lenci—driving a rented high-powered Audi R4—was traveling at high speed and under the influence of alcohol and drugs. While attempting to overtake on a stretch of road with a continuous line, he crossed into the oncoming lane, essentially driving in the wrong direction.
The impact was devastating: the two boys were thrown into the air and lost their lives instantly while returning home after an evening at the cinema.
The families: a two-year battle for justice
During the trial, the Morra family was assisted by the lawyer Sergio Pisani, while the Altamura family was assisted by the lawyers Luigi Poziello and Teresa Armato.
Both have tirelessly fought to obtain justice for their children, a symbol of a dramatic 2023 for the city's traffic, a year in which 33 road deaths were recorded in Naples.
Lenci remains in prison
With the conviction upheld on appeal, Lenci opens the door to a legal process that will definitively hold him responsible for the tragic accident. He remains in prison, while for the victims' families, the sentence represents an important step in a case that has profoundly affected the entire Fuorigrotta community.
